EL DON Tequila...the premium choice!

"A little science, Amigo: When tequila is made, two types of alcohol are produced; ethanol and methanol. The ethanol is what gives you that 'buzz' while the methanol adds a bit of bite and character.

While it's true that as a general rule, all tequilas have some methanol content, the lower the methanol content the smoother the 'finish' and, oh by the way, the lower the hangover potential. Go Wiki "methanol" and you'll see why we're all about lowering the amount in our premium tequila!

The science led the folks at el Padrino spirits to a novel solution to the methanol problem.

It was the President of el Padrino, Don Jeremy, who had the insight. "Instead of making tequila the old way, crushing and fermenting where woody fibers can lead to excess methanol, why don't we go 'high tech' use a different process?"

After several years of research, equipment was ordered from Europe's custom winemaking suppliers.

The result is that on a typical workday at the el Padrino plant in Guadalajara, Mexico, the day begins with a delivery of pure Weber Blue Agave plants.

By the way, this is as close as most of us get to a 'Tequila Sunrise' - el Don, you must understand is a premium sipping tequila. Salt, maybe. Lime? For sure. Fruits and sugary stuff? Use the cheap stuff for that.

In the 'pre-processor' the carefully hand-picked Agave is cleaned and prepared for its journey through something called a 'Fusador".

This process steams the delicate Agave juices from the plant without crushing. The results are truly remarkable: a juice of near pharmaceutical purity with almost no methanol content.

This is one of the secrets of el Don's robust favor. "
